I had a lovely time as an Annual Conference delegate. Tara, Sarah and I work well as a unit. Tara is the oldest in her family, so she drove us everywhere and explained all the intricacies of Annual Conference. Sarah, the middle child in her family, cuddled with me at night, and was always on the phone connecting the larger group to make sure everyone was included. After all, all means all. And I just sat in the back seat and made jokes. Because that’s what the youngests do.

Our little family worked hard, laughed a lot, stayed up late, sat in on many business sessions, and cried happy and sad tears. We connected with clergy women all over the conference. We watched Ordinations. We learned about leadership in the United Methodist church, our four main focus areas, and new development. We welcomed our new associate pastor, our senior pastor (not so new) and watched our Austin Area District Superintendent be really important. I didn’t realize how big the United Methodist Austin District was until I came to conference. It’s big. We had Whataburger five times, because it is part of Corpus Christi’s history, and we had to do so.

We are looking forward to hearing the results from all annual conferences, and we hope to return to ours next year.
